Supporting the ministry and those directly involved in the doing part of this ministry is a triple effort. It involves lifting up prayers, giving financially and encouragement.
The most powerful thing that any Christian can do is pray. It does not require great physical strength, money or even being spiritual.
Philippians 4:6–7 in the English Standard Version Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Regardless of our spiritual condition, God wants to communicate with us through prayer and through the Scriptures. God does not need us and there is nothing we can offer God that He can't do better Himself. However, God wants us. He seeks fellowship with each of us regardless of how good or bad we are, how spiritual or unspiritual we are, how religious or irreligious we are. God wants us, but He does not force us to follow Him or to honor Him this side of eternity. (We believe that we will naturally desire to praise Him and honor Him in heaven and on the new earth.) Pray for your relationship with Him. Pray also for us as your prayers have a tremendous impact on our ministry.
Our prayer partners are special to us as they hold us, our ministry, our conditions and our family up to the Lord through their prayers. As we are blessed, so we trust that the Lord will bless each and every one of our partners in ministry.
We also want to know how we can pray for you, our prayer and financial supporters. Do pass your prayer requests onto us as well as the answers to prayer. We can be reached through our emails: Dwight and Dorothy.
Funding is also critical. We are supported by His people who are called and believe this ministry to be important. We are grateful to each and every supporter for their kind and generous spirit that answers God's call to join in the ministry God has ordained. Many of our partners in ministry give sacrificially, and we are humbled by their generosity.
Ministry is ineffective without prayer, but ministry is also hampered or stopped by a lack of financial support. SIM is very careful in its handling of funds on behalf of you the donors and us the recipients. They work hard to keep overhead expenses down. However, when our support levels drop below the requirements, we often have to make cuts that may have a significant negative effect on our working and living.
Since returning to the USA for medical attention for Dorothy, we have seen our support requirements go up substantially while our level of financial support has dropped some. The increases in budget are due to increases in:
and support has dropped as some of our finanacial supporters graduated to heaven and others have faced loss of income due for various reasons.
September 30th marks the end of the SIM fiscal year, and our support level continues to be short of the agreed requirement with SIM USA. The shortfall from last year has carried over into this fiscal year and our account (even with the current reduced allowance level) is now down by about $8,000; which is good news as we have recently received almost $4,000 in special one-time gifts. Please join us in praying that the Lord will raise up additional support to fill this shortfall and even to allow us to return to the agreed budget level.
Some of this short fall was anticipated at the beginning of 2018, so we agreed with SIM to operate on a temporary reduced budget level, but even at the reduced level the funding was short. We cut our living salary by $746 to $1500 last November to help with the problem.
We still have to cover our health insurance, federal, state taxes and Social Security as well as SIM USA and SIM International support services. SIM has been and continues to be a "faith" mission as all its members have to raise their own support.
Asking for additional funding to support the work that God has called us to is not a favorite part of our ministry. However, we believe God called us into this work 30 years ago and that His calling continues. We continue doing what we started - supporting the work.
SIM USA has setup a direct link that can be used to help fund our ministry through on-line giving. That link is here: SIM USA portal for Dwight and Dorothy Hazard. In Canada this link can be used: SIM Canada site. Other countries can use: SIM donate website. Please indicate Dwight and Dorothy Hazard support, Missionary number 25196 where necessary. Gifts given through these channels are tax deductible for most countries. Checks are also accepted; the address for mailing checks in the USA is:
PO Box 7900
Charlotte, NC 28241-7900
One-time gifts are very helpful in overcoming the deficit while ongoing contributions also help us with future planning. The majority of our financial support (78% to date this fiscal year) comes from individuals. We received 20% from churches and the balance (2%) from businesses.
Please contact us with any questions you may concerning these finances or other matters. Your support to, of and for the ministries we have been called into, is greatly appreciated.
